New Application Note: UHPLC analysis of 6 common nitrosamines

Are you dealing with challenging nitrosamine analyses?

Nitrosamines are small organic compounds that can be found in various products. They can be detected in a number of food products, as well as tobacco, consumer products and cosmetics. Recently, nitrosamine impurities have been found in drugs. Due to their probable human carcinogenicity they have to be monitored strictly.

In this recent application note, the analysis of 6 common nitrosamines is demonstrated. Since a high sensitivity is required for this type of analysis, a YMC-Triart C18 UHPLC column is used which is an ideal choice for such challenging separations.

You can download the application note with the full method details here.

How to improve your analysis of challenging compounds

Are you plagued with poor peak shapes, low sensitivities, sample carry over and/or low recoveries for challenging compounds?

Several substances are able to interact with the usual inert column hardware materials such as stainless steel or titanium. The adsorption on metallic surfaces typically leads to peak tailing, loss of recovery and sample carry over. Critical substances are especially metal-coordinating compounds, such as fumonisins, sphingophospholipids or organophosphates in general.

YMC offers a special hardware as an option for the YMC-Triart (U)HPLC column family. The so-called metal-free YMC-Triart columns are fully inert columns due to their PEEK lined stainless steel column body and the use of PEEK frits. By using YMC-Triart metal-free columns, superior peak shapes and sensitivities can be expected making them also the perfect choice for highly sensitive analyses using LC/MS.
